School
Project Overview
The Rapid City Area School District has a new middle School on the southeast part of the City. The modern facility has numerous features to enhance the student experience. Along with standard classrooms with multiple break-out spaces, the school boasts a CTE Production Lab, dedicated STEM Classrooms, large Band/Music Room, Orchestra Room, , Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) Classroom, and a 300-seat Commons with stage and production capabilities. The Special Education program has specialized spaces including a Simulated Home Training Area. Sports facilities include a competition gym with large locker rooms and a referee/officials locker room, a fitness center, and a new outdoor track and football field. Multiple entrances relieve pressure at any one entrance. A large crawl space houses all of the mechanical including the Geothermal and Ice Storage Systems that make up the High Efficiency HVAC.
Lemmon School Expansion
Project Overview
The new Lemon School Expansion adds a new JR/SR High School at their existing athletic complex. The 40,000 square foot addition will replace the existing 1931 High School. Some of the highlights include a new alternative gym, updated weight/wrestling rooms, expanded shop/manual arts, education wing with administrative services, and updated security/access control. The budget also includes updating utilities and security upgrades on the existing facilities. CO-OP Architecture, with Scull Construction, analyzed existing facilities with the school’s building committee, and helped them through the pre-referendum process.
