Just west and south of Rapid City lies the Black Hills, which offers the iconic Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse monuments. In the summer, the Black Hills offer freshwater lakes and reservoirs for fishing and boating, many of which are surrounded by sites for camping. The Black Hills also provide beautiful hiking trails, mountain bike circuits, rock climbing routes, and numerous hunting opportunities. Or, you can simply take your motorcycle out for a cruise through the scenic hills. Winter in the Black Hills offers even more with downhill and cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, fat-tire biking, and snowmobiling.
Rapid City is a community large enough to have big city activities such as professional hockey games, Broadway theatre, and a flourishing art scene; yet, we are small enough to know our neighbors. Our average commute time is under 15 minutes, which allows us to maximize our time with family and friends. It’s no surprise that in 2016 Rapid City was ranked #16 in the Top 100 Places to Live.
